The small press publisher who I sent the book-length version of "The Witch of Waxahachie" to didn't accept it, but he was nice enough to read it and give me some helpful feedback, which will come in handy in the future if and when I decide to revise it. As is often the case, valid observations about a story usually resonate with the author, and I feel he put his finger on a number of issues.
Unfortunately, the crush of publishing is such that editors at major publishers don't have the time to read through submissions or offer feedback, but some small press publishers do, so running "Witch" past the small press was worthwhile.
